Who we are
St Barnabas Anglican Church is based in West Leederville, an inner-city suburb of Perth Western Australia. Our church community is a pretty good mix of all ages and demographics. The one thing that connects all of us is a belief and/or interest in the person of Jesus. Whether you’re a long-term Christian or an early explorer, you are more than welcome to journey with us.
What we believe
As an Anglican church we subscribe to the thirty-nine articles of belief that are practiced by the Anglican church globally.
Each Anglican church does carry its own individual flavour and ours would be best categorised as being of the Evangelical tradition. If ‘Evangelical’ is a foreign term for you then essentially it means that we take the Bible seriously, we believe in the saving work of Jesus Christ, and that we are to effectively communicate this saving work to the wider world.
Who was St Barnabas
In the first century Barnabas became one of the Apostle Paul’s closest colleagues and ministered with him across the Mediterranean in pioneering church communities following the death and resurrection of Jesus. Barnabas is a Greek name meaning ‘son of encouragement’.
